A listing's status decides whether buyers can see it. Here's what each status means and how to change it.
The six statuses
| Status | Use it when | Public? |
|---|---|---|
| Draft | You're still filling it in | No |
| Unpublished | It's ready, but you're holding it back | No |
| Active | It's on the market | Yes |
| Sold | The sale has closed | No |
| Rented | The tenancy has closed | No |
| Inactive | It's withdrawn, or you've stopped working on it | No |
Active is the only public status. Setting a listing to Active is how you publish it. Any other status takes it down: its page, its card on the Classifieds and Properties feeds, and its photos all disappear for buyers. Anyone who opens an old link, or scans the QR code on an old flyer, is told the listing isn't available.
One exception: when you post an ad again, buyers see only one copy, usually the newest (a Full listing wins over a Classified). The other copies stay Active but are hidden. While the copy buyers see is live, a link to a hidden copy opens it. See Ads you posted more than once.
You still see every listing, whatever its status, on your Listings page.
Changing the status
On the edit page. Open the listing and pick a status in the Status block at the top. It saves the moment you pick it; you don't need Save Changes. While the listing is Active, the block shows its public link with Copy and open buttons.
Several at once. On the Listings page press Select, tick the cards, then Set Active or Set Unpublished. See The Listings page.
When you create. Create Listing makes it Active straight away. Save as Draft makes it a Draft.
Active and your plan
Full and Internal listings are limited by your plan. Classifieds are not limited here; they count when you create them instead.
- Full ads a day. A Full listing uses one the first time it goes Active. Taking it down and putting it back later doesn't use another. On Free you get 2 a day.
- Active Full ads. Every Full or Internal listing that is Active right now counts. Sold, Rented, Inactive, Draft and Unpublished don't. An earlier copy of an ad you posted again counts too. On Free you can have 60.
If a change would go over either limit, the page says so with a See plans link and the status stays as it was. Marking a few old ads Sold, Rented or Inactive frees room.
Deleting a listing you published today gives today's slot back.
Good habits
- Mark a closed deal Sold or Rented instead of deleting it. You keep the history and free a slot.
- Use Unpublished for a listing that's ready but waiting on the owner's go-ahead.
- Only Active listings can be featured on Premium. Taking a listing off Active turns Premium off. See Premium (featured) listings.
